Little Sahara
Little sahara is in the middle of utah, half an hour away from
Nephi. There are many different places to ride. A favorite is Sand Mountain, which tops out at 700 feet. South East of Sand Mountain are little dunes, great for learning and practicing for the beginners. Off to the East are many different trails you can ride. The fees are $8.00 a night, there is no extra fee for camping, but you have to be out the next day by two. There are two campgrounds, White Sands campground, and Oasis Campground. There is overflow camping at Jericho Picnic area, and at the base of Sand Mountain. Ammenities are pit style toilets, and running water during the summer.
Coral Pink
Coral Pink sand dunes is in the southern utah, half an hour away from Kanab. The park is open year round. Holiday weekends are busier than others. There are many different places to ride. Besides the dunes there are several different trail systems to ride. There are over 2,000 acres of land to ride. The fees are $5.00 for day use and $14.00 for camping. There are three different camping areas. There is the Main camping area, Dry camp "meadows", and The Ponderosa Grove campgrounds. Ammenities are restrooms with showers, RV Dump and running water during the summer.
Sand Hollow
Sand Hollow is in Southern Utah, 15-20 minutes away from St. George. This great area provides many riding opportunities; One favorite spot is down by the Reservoir, which is a great place for drag racing. The fees are $21.00 a night for improved camping, $9.00 for primitive camping, and $7.00 for day use. "Improved camping" includes a dump station, water and sewer, and 50 amp electricy. There is a boat ramp to access the reservoir.
IDAHO
St. Anthony
St. Anthony Sand Dunes are about 10 miles North of Rexburg, Idaho, and about 50 miles Northeast of Idaho Falls. The fees are $30.00 a night for the A camp sites which are double sized and have electrical service. The B sites are $16.00 a night, with electrical hookups, and the C sites are $12.00 a night for a basic site. All sites provide a fire pit, table, water and pit style toilets. There are no day use fees. St. Anthony has many different places to ride, a favorite is Choke Cherry Hill for a fun challenge. Also, there is a small lake about three feet deep that is awesome to ride through, and play in.
CALIFORNIA
Dumont
Dumont Sand Dunes are in california about 34 miles north of Baker. The dunes border volcanic hills, and the Amargosa River. There are aproximately 8,150 acres of open area to play, the dunes range from 700 feet to 1200 feet. There are many dunes that are large and steep, the dunes also offer plenty of bowls and razorbacks. There are also some smaller dunes and bowls for the kids and for beginners. The camping area consists of a large flat area. The sand gets softer when you get closer to the dunes, there has been many 4x4's that have gotten stuck. The only facilities are pit style restrooms (no running water). There are no dumpsters "pack it in, pack it out!" The fees are $20.00 for a seven day permit, or $60.00 for an annual season pass.
